See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Popular locally for its food and ales. There has been a pub here since the 16th century, originally the named Tyfarn-y-Rhyd (Tavern on the Ford) and favoured by drovers on the Hereford to Aberystwyth drive. It is a snug little inn with low ceilings and interconnecting spaces. The nickname, 'The Pit', comes from the need to stand in a pit to play darts. Three real ales are served from Glamorgan and Wye Valley breweries and it is usually busy serving meals, including blackboard specials. The toilets are across the road. Not open on Sundays except during the summer holidays. Summer school holidays (end July & August) as above except opens at 17:00. See Facebook. Self contained accommodation is available in a separate cottage opposite the pub.
