DESCRIPTION BELOW REFERS TO PREVIOUS INCARNATION AS "GATE HOUSE" - SPECIFIC BAR 125 DESCRIPTION PENDING Located in the shadow of the ancient fortified Monnow Bridge (built 1270), this is a stylish Georgian riverside bar on three levels. The main deep split level bar has flagstones on the floor and attractive modern artwork dotted around the walls giving it an air of sophistication; note also the optician test card! . Two comfortable sofas are beneath the TV. The tastefully furnished restaurant is upstairs. The bar menu is supplemented by some appetising and interesting specials. The bar gives access to a three-tiered sun trap Riverside Gallery garden (hence the reduced menu options) overlooking the River Monnow. Those wishing for some cerebral exercise may wish to participate in the Thursday night quiz. The two guest ales are usually popular brands from well known breweries. An interesting feature in the gents toilet may raise a chuckle when visiting! Parking is available opposite off Blestium Street.
