This historic coaching inn, relaunched in December 2025 under new management, drew its original name from the "cock horse," a term for horses ridden to the foot of steep hills and then hitched to carriages to aid in climbing. The inn served a route through local hills, ending in Brockton, Shropshire, where another pub shares its name. It features a spacious, enclosed beer garden at the back and offers classic pub games like pool, darts, and dominoes. Sandwiches and rolls are available.
