Several changes of owners have seen a wet sales only pub with a largely agricultural clientele (in the 1980's) change into what is now a food orientated establishment with a reputation for the high standard of cuisine. The present owners, Mike and Sue have recently enlarged the pub, with the addition of an upstairs dining area. For it's food, Y Polyn has two AA rosettes, an Egon Ronay star and an entries in the Good Food Guide, Michelin Pub Guide and Alistair Sawday's Guide to Pubs. Prices match the standard of catering, though the limited lunchtime menu "for the squeezed middle" aims at offering special value. The great majority of customers visit for the food, though suitably attired patrons (no working clothes) are welcomed in the bar area to sample the three well kept local ales.
